Georgia Pacific Louisiana Federal Credit Union celebrated the opening its new main branch at 1700 E. Mount Pleasant Road in Zachary during a March 23 ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The Zachary Chamber of Commerce helped welcome business and community leaders to the event, including Mayor David Amrhein, Superintendent Scott Devillier, Police Chief David McDavid, City Councilman Brandon Noel, Chamber Executive Director Kate MacArthur, Director Heather Prejean, employees, friends and customers of the branch.
Refreshments and cake were served.
Besides Zachary, GP Credit Union has branches in Port Hudson and Plaquemine.
Grace Perkins is CEO and branch manager; Catina Isaac, assistant manager/accountant; Marlene George, branch supervisor; Melinda Gauthier, member service representative/reports posting; Joney Daley, member service representative; Kasta Routon, member service representative/collections; Morna Cotton, member service representative; and Jeshara Huggins, member service representative.
Perkins, Isaac, George, Routon and Huggins work at the main branch in Zachary.
For 11 years, the main branch was located in a small building on Church Street in Zachary before a new, larger location was built.
The first day of business in the new building was Jan. 1, Perkins said.
Perkins said members do not have to be an employee of Georgia Pacific to bank there, rather they must live, work or worship in Zachary or East Feliciana Parish.
