Red Ribbon Week was celebrated Oct. 27-31 in East Feliciana Public Schools with several activities promoting a drug-free life.

Highlights of the week included a motivational presentation at each school by Dr. Dana Andrus sponsored by the East Feliciana Parish Drug and Alcohol Awareness Council.

At Clinton Elementary School, students showed their “jean-ius” in living a drug-free life by having a blue jean day.

Students at Jackson Elementary School pledged to “sock out” drug use by wearing red socks.

At Slaughter Elementary School, students held a balloon release to show that the sky is the limit when you choose a drug-free life, school officials said.

Students at East Feliciana Middle School and East Feliciana Enrichment Academy participated in an essay contest, while East Feliciana High School went a more artistic route by holding a door-decorating contest.

“East Feliciana Public Schools are proud to empower students to make positive choices,” Superintendent Henderson Lewis Jr. said. “We are committed to the message of Red Ribbon Week, and we appreciate the continued efforts of the East Feliciana Parish Drug and Alcohol Awareness Council.”
