Ka’shayla Dunn was named Jackson Elementary School Student of the Year.

Dunn will compete in the East Feliciana Public Schools Elementary Student of the Year competition against winners from Clinton Elementary School and Slaughter Elementary School.

Fifth graders with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA in third through fifth grade were eligible to compete. Other finalists were Raven Johnson, Kambriel Moore, De’Zyriah Wilson, Ka’Nyria Cotton, Kadence Harrell, Shaniyah Wilson, Da’Shayla Goss, Michael Winfrey and Lance Gorayeb.

Students were evaluated on their academic performance, an essay, leadership, citizenship, community involvement, awards and recognitions and an interview.

Students who won awards in the competition include:

Outstanding Interview: Shaniyah Wilson

Outstanding Citizenship: Ka’Nyria Cotton

Outstanding Academic Achievement: De’Zyriah Wilson

Outstanding Awards and Recognition: Michael Winfrey

Outstanding Essay: Lance Gorayeb
