East Feliciana Parish students were dismissed early Thursday because of severe thunderstorms predicted for the area.
Students are regularly dismissed between 3 p.m. and 3:15 p.m., but Superintendent Carlos Sam made the decision to let students out at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 21.
“Some bus rides last about an hour, so we thought we’d be safe and dismiss early,” Jackson Elementary Principal Megan Phillips said.
The transport buses are made available to students every day as part of the district’s normal procedure.
Severe weather warnings, including tornado warnings, were issued Thursday beginning about 5 p.m.
