The Wilson Community Youth Organization, in partnership with the Wilson Police Department, the Kobie Cotton Foundation and Jackson Elementary School, hosted the sixth annual Back 2 the Books Bash on Aug. 1 at Calvin Jackson Memorial Park. More than 150 young people received backpacks with school supplies.
“We are proud to partner with organizations committed to the development of the youth of our community,” Wilson Community Youth Organization director Debra Thomas said. “We know that our children are capable of achieving great things when we all work together to make sure they have the resources they need.”
Contributors included Wilson Mayor Marilyn Broadway, District Attorney Sam D’Aquilla, Judge Betsy Jones, Sheriff Talmadge Bunch, Assessor Jeff Gardner, state troopers, the East Feliciana Parish Drug Council, First Baptist Church of Wilson, Second Baptist Church of Wilson, Colonial Pipeline, West Feliciana Sheriff’s Office, Jett Enterprises, Judy Brown, Star AG Grocery, State Rep. Kenny Havard, C&D and Eunice Smiley.
