Quad Area Head Start students from Clinton and Jackson visited the Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson on Nov. 5.

About 200 children attended, each parading down the home’s hallway, waving American flags at veterans as they passed, Head Start teachers said.

Following the parade, children presented their flags to resident veterans, thanking them for their service, school officials said.

The pre-kindergartners, ages 3 and 4, also recited the Pledge of Allegiance for the retired service men and women.

Prior to the visit, the teachers taught lessons on what being a veteran means.
