Silliman softball, football athletes recognized _lowres

Their team, the Rattlers, defeated the Knights, 28-21. Kelly was the leading offensive player with 77 yards passing, one touchdown and 54 yards rushing, while Douglas had five tackles.

Silliman Lady Wildcat softball players Kennedy Carruth, Allie DeLee, Kayla McNabb, Mary Brighton Morris and Callie Venable recently were named to the Class AAA All-MAIS (Mississippi Association of Independent Schools) Fast Pitch team.

Venable was named MVP.

In December, Wildcat football players Michael Beauchamp, Will Douglas, Devin Gros, Zach Kelly and Brian Siebert were named to the 2015 All-MAIS Football AAA-AAAA squad.

Kelly was named Offensive Player of the Year, while Douglas was named Defensive Co-Player of the Year.

Kelly, Douglas and Mark Gill also were nominated to play in the MAIS All-Star game Dec. 4. Their team won 27-2.

In addition, Kelly and Douglas were among hundreds of area seniors invited to play in the U.S. Army Red Stick Bowl All-Star game Dec. 13 in Baton Rouge.

Silliman Assistant Administrator Bob Howell coached the linebackers in the game.
