Jackson officials, members of the Jackson Lions Club and firefighters from the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department gathered Dec. 17 to co-host a Christmas party for the community.

East Feliciana Parish families and residents who attended the event were served free soft drinks, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and other snacks.

The Dixon Correctional Institute band performed holiday music while children visited with Santa Claus and received bags of fruit, candy and balloons.

The festive holiday gathering was held at the Fire Department, where Santa posed for photographs with the kids.

Jackson police blocked traffic for attendees who ate, drank and were merry.
