Students back in school

Students are back in school and that means school zones are back effect. Motorists are urged to be aware of school and speed zones as well as buses dropping off and picking up children.

East Feliciana law enforcement agencies remind drivers to slow down while students are around.

Council on Aging

The East Feliciana Council on Aging, 11102 Bank St., in Clinton can no longer provide utility assistance for senior citizens.

Cancer services provided by the council are for cancer patients in the East Feliciana area only and include supplying nutritional drinks, disposable undergarments, bed pads, dental products and more.

The cancer-related items are delivered monthly to the center.

Activities, events, programs and services for elderly residents in East Feliciana are provided weekdays.

GBR Model Railroaders

The Greater Baton Rouge Model Railroaders clubhouse in Jackson is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturday of each month.

Model trains in small to large scales are featured and run throughout the day for visitors. Everyone is invited to the next open house Jan. 10.

The GBR Railroaders clubhouse at the Republic of West Florida Historical Museum, 3406 College St., is on the hill above the train station.

Vintage Village market

The Jackson Vintage Village Flea Market, held the second Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., is behind the Jackson Civic Center, 2084 La. 10.

The youth of Ethel and Jackson United Methodist churches will start meeting again on Jan. 11 at the Harrington home in the Bluffs in St. Francisville.
