Jackson United Methodist Church, 1727 Sycamore St., is registering now for its upcoming vacation Bible school.
All youth ages 4 to 12 are invited to attend from 9 a.m. to noon July 20-24 and participate in Bible stories, crafts, games and recreation, music and singing, and a science lab.
This year’s theme is “G-Force: God’s Love in Action.”
There is no cost to attend, and youth do not have to be members of the church to participate.

Council on Aging services
The East Feliciana Council on Aging, 11102 Bank St., Clinton, provides items for cancer patients in the East Feliciana Parish area by supplying nutritional drinks, dental products, bed pads and more.
The cancer-related items are delivered monthly to the center, which is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Activities and programs for the elderly are provided weekdays. Lunch is served at noon.
Also, East Feliciana Public Transit offers transportation to seniors Monday through Friday to East Baton Rouge Parish.

Watch demonstrations of various Civil War small arms weapons and hear about the experiences of the riflemen from both the Union and Confederate armies at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays at Port Hudson State Historic Site, 236 U.S. 61, Jackson.

Trains are running
Everyone is invited from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to visit the Greater Baton Rouge Model Railroaders’ clubhouse at 3406 College St. in Jackson to watch the model trains run.
Located at the Republic of West Florida Historical Museum, the Railroaders’ clubhouse is open the second and fourth Saturday of each month, and admission is free.
Also, membership to the GBR Model Railroaders is open to all. Dues are $180 per calendar year and include newsletters and special alerts; a membership badge; the chance to learn to build layouts, scenery, wiring and more; unlimited access to the clubhouses; free rides on the Old Hickory Railroad (when running); invitations to special club events; and membership in the National Model Railroaders Association.

Play ball at Centenary
Middle- and high school-age groups are invited from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday to attend Centenary State Historic Site, 3522 College St., Jackson, to learn about and play townball — historic baseball — using 1800s rules and equipment.
Following a tour of the site, the game will be played on Centenary College’s original baseball field with the West Wing Dormitory as a scenic backstop. Preregistration is required. For information, call (225) 634-7925.
