The East Feliciana Council on Aging’s board of directors thanks the East Feliciana Parish Police Jury for placing the millage on the November ballot though it was voted down, Brenda Gardner, of the Council on Aging, said.

“Even though the millage did not pass, the needs of our elderly remain the same. We have 67 very needy elderly on a waiting list for meals,” Gardner said. “If you live, you will grow old, and if you grow old, you may need the Council on Aging.

“So when you see a meal being delivered, a van with clients on their way to the doctor or hear of any of the services being provided to your families, friends and neighbors, know that the council is here and ready to help.”

Gardner also thanks the 3,395 people who voted in support of the elderly in East Feliciana. Forty-six percent of voters voted in favor of the millage proposition.

A local business and service organization, Drop-N-Go Cleaners and Clinton Lions Club, will support seniors through the council’s Adopt an Elderly fundraiser.

The East Feliciana Council on Aging, 11102 Bank St., Clinton, provides services for the elderly Monday through Friday and financial assistance to seniors 60 and older. For information, call (225) 683-9862.
