The 2014 Silliman Varsity Lady Wildcats are the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools South State softball champions for the fifth consecutive year.
After a season that began July 25, the Lady Wildcats headed into the state tournament Sept. 22 ranked No. 1.
The Lady Wildcats defeated Central Hinds, 5-3, and shut out Simpson Academy in the championship game.
The girls also advanced to the final day of the MAIS Overall Class 2A State Tournament on Sept. 29 but lost to Tri-County.
The Lady Wildcats team is led by head coach Trae Weaver and assistant coaches Rick Hurst, Wendall Reeves, Turk Tynes and Taylor Tynes.
Silliman’s varsity softball team includes senior Miranda McCallister; juniors Mikayla Gayle, Mary Morris, Kari Overland, Taylor Rogillio, Maddie Trahan and Callie Venable; sophomores Marlee Boyd, Allie DeLee, Kali Douglas, Chalise Freemeyer, Kayla McNabb and Katie Viccellio; and freshmen Kennedy Carruth, Alex Jackson, Ryleigh McManus, Julia Stringer and Raelyn Turner.
