Red Nose funds benefit elementary students in Jackson _lowres

The Jackson Lions Club donated school supplies and funding to Jackson Elementary School.

Members of the service organization collected $732.06 by participating in Red Nose Day on May 21, joining a national effort to help fight childhood poverty.

On July 23, the club donated $409.09 in school supplies to Jackson Elementary Principal Megan Phillips.

The remainder of the funds, $322.97, was presented to Phillips by Lions Club President Jim Parker at the East Feliciana Parish School Board meeting Aug. 4.

Club members Beth and Scotty Dawson; Don Havard; Jeff and Dana Travis; and Parker donned red noses and collected donations from residents and passing motorists for the inaugural Red Nose event.
