Keep Louisiana Beautiful, the state’s anti-litter and community improvement organization that focuses on education, enforcement, awareness and cleanups, and Keep East Feliciana Beautiful invite Louisiana residents to submit nominations for awards that honor groups and individuals whose exemplary efforts, large and small, help to keep the state beautiful, a news release said.

KLB will honor the winners of seven categories that will be given the distinction of “Everyday Hero” at the annual state conference and awards ceremony slated for Oct. 1-2 in Lafayette.

Keep Louisiana Beautiful affiliates, businesses, civic and community organizations, churches, governmental agencies, nonprofits, professional groups, schools and individuals are eligible to be nominated.

Everyday Hero awards will be presented in the following categories:

Alice Foster Award: A volunteer who has exceptional leadership abilities in the areas of litter prevention, waste reduction, recycling and beautification.

Golden Can Award: A public servant who displays a deep commitment to KLB’s mission in his daily work by going above and beyond the call of duty.

Most Innovative Program: A successful beautification, litter prevention or waste reduction program led by a school, civic group, nonprofit or KLB affiliate.

Youth Award: A student or youth-led group that displays creative thinking, demonstrates effective leadership, engages peer participation and makes a significant impact on the community.

Outstanding Affiliate: A Keep Louisiana Beautiful affiliate that shows fortitude, leadership, creative and diverse programming and community engagement.

Outstanding Affiliate Director: An affiliate director who demonstrates exceptional dedication to KLB’s mission and leadership by building a strong and sustainable organization.

Corporate Leadership Award: A business that exhibits a consistent dedication to KLB’s mission, environmental stewardship and/or community enrichment.

To nominate a deserving “everyday hero,” email or mail a narrative that details how the nominee is qualified for the award.

Narratives may not exceed 500 words, but supporting documentation, such as printed materials, photos and press clippings, is encouraged.

Entries must be submitted by Sept. 10. Award recipients will be notified by Sept. 15.
