On Jan. 31, Our Lady of Perpetual Help was the host church for the 5th Sunday service, held for Jackson area churches during months that have five Sundays.

Martha Saltus welcomed everyone to the gathering and invited a representative from each church to share news and activities about their respective churches.

The Rev. Clark Fooshee Jr., pastor of Second Baptist Church in Jackson, reported from his church; Osie Broussard gave an update on Our Lady of Perpetual Help; and Beth Dawson shared news from Jackson United Methodist.

Richard Broussard then led the churchgoers in a prayer and blessing, followed by the singing of hymns and an offering for the Helping in His Name Food Bank.

Usher Martin Macdiarmid said $226 was taken up in the collection.

Following the service, chicken and sausage gumbo prepared by Gerald Blanchard was served.
