Happy New Year!
As part of your resolutions, consider putting "contact The Democrat or The Watchman" on your list.
We would love to hear about activities from schools, churches, clubs and neighborhoods in the Felicianas and the surrounding areas.
Sports and recreational items, such as runs and children's ball league updates, also are sought.
Remember to answer the question words in any write-up: who, what, when, where, why and how. Include a way for us to contact you if we have questions.
Photos need to be high-resolution jpg photo files. We can use cellphone photos if they are sent at "actual" or "full" size. We need to know first and last names of people in the photos, as well as what is happening in the photos.
Send all the items to firstname.lastname@example.org within two weeks of the event.
If you would like to promote an event, send the information to us a couple of weeks ahead of the event.
All items are used on a space-available basis.
New Year's Eve

Watch those frogs
Volunteers are invited to join Baton Rouge Zoo’s FrogWatch Program for 2018.
The United States Geological Survey created FrogWatch USA in 1998 as a contributory Public Participation in Scientific Research. The Association of Zoos and Aquariums took over management of the program in 2009.
FrogWatch volunteers provide data used to prevent future declines in the frog and toad populations while learning more about the animals, which play an important role as indicators of an ecosystem’s health.
Training sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 6 at the Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center Education Building and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 14 at Baton Rouge Zoo’s Education Building. Optional “Jeopardy”-style trivia will be offered immediately after each training session.
