Port Hudson State Historic Site in Jackson presents “Earthworks and Earthworms: Mutiny in the Trenches” at 11 a.m. Saturday.
During the longest siege on American soil, morale often sunk low, leading to insubordination and even mutiny on both sides of the line.

AARP accepting award nominations
AARP Louisiana is now accepting nominations for its 2015 Andrus Award for Community Service, which honors Louisianians 50 and older who are sharing their experience, talent and skills to enrich their communities, according to a news release.
The Andrus Award for Community Service is an annual awards program developed to honor people whose service is a unique and valuable contribution to society. Last year, 52 people were honored by AARP from around the country.
“AARP Louisiana is excited to shine a light on 50+ Louisianans who are using what they’ve learned in life to make a difference in the lives around them,” said Brenda G. Hatfield, AARP volunteer state president.
Applications will be evaluated by AARP Louisiana volunteers based on how the nominee’s work has improved the community, supported AARP’s vision and mission and inspired other volunteers. The award recipient will be announced in late fall, and AARP will make a $500 donation to the winner’s nonprofit of choice.
Nominations are being accepted online at www.AARP.org/AndrusAward. Application deadline is July 3.
