It's the Big Hop
Make sure you jump on this opportunity for family fun as the Big Hop Spring Carnival comes to the West Feliciana Sports Park in St. Francisville.
From noon to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, enjoy carnival rides, live music and food. Ride wristbands are available for $20 and cover four hours of rides. All proceeds benefit veterans in need through the Louisiana Veterans Foundation.
Help feed a family
The United Methodist Men of St. Francisville United Methodist Church is holding its annual 1,000 Cans of Food Drive throughout April. Monetary and food donations will be accepted to benefit the West Feliciana Food Pantry.
Donations can be dropped off at the church at 9866 Royal St., St. Francisville, or a pickup can be arranged.

Two special events are on tap at Audubon State Historic Site in St. Francisville this weekend.
From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, participants can make a bird feeder from an empty water bottle to help provide feathered friends with food while recycling.
On Sunday, an Enslaved Life Tour will take place at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. A park ranger will lead guests on a guided tour of the plantation yard to discover life for the enslaved. Included in the tour are outbuildings and slave cabins. The 45-minute walking tour is across uneven ground.

Hunting for fun?
Stop by the Clinton Branch of the Audubon Regional Library, 12220 Woodville St., from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday for the annual Easter Egg Hunt.
In addition to the egg hunt, activities will include crafts, games and more. Guests are invited to bring their cameras for photo with the Easter Bunny.

Magnolia Full Gospel Baptist Church at 7910 U.S. 61 N., St. Francisville, will host two special events this Easter weekend.
“The Last Seven Sayings of Jesus from the Cross” service will be at 1 p.m. Friday. Guest speakers include pastors Albert Anderson III, Burnett King, Dennis Lawrence, Lanquois Payne, Robert Scott Jr., Calvin Willis and Sterling Wrights.
The Resurrection Sunday Worship Service will begin at 8:20 a.m. Sunday with a special message from the Rev. Milton Coats.

Hemingbough will host its 20th annual Easter Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. Sunday at 10101 La. 965 W., St. Francisville.
The free, casual dress event will be held in the Greek amphitheater overlooking the lake but will move indoors in case of rain. The Rev. Chris Andrews will speak.

A devil of a time
Port Hudson State Historic Site in Jackson will hold a Devil’s Elbow guided tour Saturday. Participants should meet at the park museum at 10 a.m. and carpool through old Port Hudson along the river bluffs to the Georgia-Pacific picnic pavilion. The tour then proceeds on foot to the Devil’s Elbow where a ranger will discuss the siege events that occurred there.
The hike is approximately 1½ miles long. Guests should wear comfortable clothing and shoes and bring water.

Easter on parade
Head out to Jackson on Saturday for the Jackson Lions Club’s Easter Parade. Lineup will begin at 2 p.m. at the East Louisiana Mental Health System, and the parade will roll at 3 p.m.
