Saints’ 4x200 squad claims title at LSU indoor event
The West Feliciana boys 4x200-meter relay team made a bold statement against some of the state’s top track and field teams at the LSU High School Classic last weekend. A total of 105 teams sent athletes to the meet.
The squad of Kam Jackson, Sa’darrius Thomas, Derek Turner and Darius Davis finished in 1:32.88, tying with John Curtis ahead of 32 other teams that competed in the 4x200 event. Turner and Davis were on the team that helped propel the Saints to the state Class 3A outdoor title in May.
Other top West Feliciana finishers at the LSU meet, which serves as a qualifier for the state indoor championships Feb. 18, included Jacob Fudge, third overall in the boys shot put with a throw of 48 feet, 11 inches; Everitt Williamson and Aiden Holland finished 22nd and 23rd respectively in the pole vault with top efforts of 10 feet, 1 inch; Chandler Sullivan, 26th overall in the boys 800-meter run (2:16.66); Davis (7.16 seconds) and Turner (7.22) won their heats in the 60-meter dash, but didn’t compete in the final.
For the West Feliciana girls squad, Kennedy London earned second place overall in the 60-meter hurdles (9.37 seconds) after finishing first in her preliminary heat (9.39); London also finished second in her 60-meter dash prelim (8.11) and Shakira Whitaker was fifth (9.05); Adriana Hodges was fifth in her 60h prelim (12.18); Kia Coleman was third in the triple jump (35 feet, 7 inches) and Destiny Mitchell was 24th in the high jump (4 feet, 4 inches); Kelly Goff finished 18 in the 800-meter run (2:39.45) while teammate Honesty Mitchell was 51 (3:05.11); and the Lady Saints were 19th in the 4x200 relay (1:56.18).
East Feliciana finished 13th in the finals of the 4x200-meter relay in 1:37.20 after a second-place finish in the prelims in 1:37.70. Kirtland Hills finished sixth in his heat of the 60 dash (7.56).
Spring soccer at Sports Park
Practice for spring soccer begins Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. at the West Feliciana Sports Park. The season is scheduled to end before the beginning of baseball season.

The Sports Park will host a free soccer coaches clinic Feb. 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please let organizers know if you plan to attend. This clinic will be conducted by Challenger Sports . Even if you can't coach but want to attend to learn more about soccer, feel free to attend.
FTC plans March tourney
The Feliciana Tennis Community's Annual Spring Tournament will be March 24-26 at the West Feliciana Sports Park. The tournament will again follow a team format with men's 7.0 and women's 7.0 levels and teams will consist of six to 10 players. If you have questions, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
