The Keep East Feliciana Beautiful Committee is raising money to purchase new signs encouraging drivers to keep litter off the roadways.

The group discussed the upcoming fundraiser during a Sept. 1 meeting.

The committee hopes to raise enough money to purchase 10 signs to be placed on the main highways entering East Feliciana Parish.

The front of the sign will read “Welcome to East Feliciana, Please Keep East Feliciana Beautiful,” and the other side will read “Thank you for Keeping East Feliciana Beautiful,” committee members said.

The signs will cost about $448 each. A local bank has volunteered to host the fundraiser, and bank officials are looking for other banks to get involved.

Keep East Feliciana Beautiful Committee members are working closely with area banks to finalize the fundraiser details, committee member Nannette Egros said.

“We are still working on the details of the fundraiser; however, the Keep East Feliciana Beautiful Committee will accept donations at any time,” Egros said.

Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 427, Clinton, LA 70722.

The committee will hold its next meeting at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Police Jury office in Clinton.

Keep East Feliciana Beautiful Director Barbara Vail said she and the committee plan to attend a Keep Louisiana Beautiful conference on Oct. 1-2 in Lafayette.

“It’s not only important for the people visiting here to see a clean parish, it’s important to our residents that we live in a clean parish,” Vail said.
