Oncologist Dr. Andrew Elson recently joined the staff of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Hammond.
Dr. Charles Wood, medical director of radiation oncology, said Elson’s knowledge of the latest cancer treatment strategies “will help to continue advancing world-class medicine in this community-based setting.”
Elson, a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, earned a medical doctorate from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City. He completed a preliminary year of internal medicine residency at Tulane University Hospitals and Clinics in New Orleans and a radiation oncology residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
Elson has completed research fellowships at the University of Iowa Department of Radiology in Iowa City, Iowa, and the Cardiovascular Research Institute, University of South Dakota School of Medicine in Vermillion, South Dakota.
