Eatel has partnered with the Livingston Parish School System and Malco Gonzales Cinema to sponsor a digital safety seminar Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Frost School, 19672 La. 42, Livingston.

The free seminar for middle and high school students, parents and teachers, and will teach ways to prevent harmful digital and online behaviors such as sexting, cyberbullying, digital blackmail, digital exploitation, and more, a news release from Eatel said.

The seminars will be presented nationally by renowned speaker Richard Guerry, founder of the Institute for Responsible Online and Cell-Phone Communication. Guerry is the author of “Public and Permanent: The Golden Rule of the 21st Century” and has been a featured speaker at many national conferences and conventions, the release said. He has also appeared as an expert on CNN, MTV’s Thin Line Campaign, Parade Magazine and in local, regional and international publications.

“As a member of the communities we serve, we strongly believe that it is part of our responsibility to do what we can to protect families,” said Toby DuBois, Eatel’s chief marketing officer. “At these free seminars, students, parents, grandparents and teachers can all learn how to avoid the digital pitfalls that too many young people are falling into in today’s digitally-connected world.”

Registration is not required to attend. Eatel encourages those attending to arrive early as seating will be limited.
