Livingston Youth and Family Counseling Inc. will host its third annual Evening in the Park from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Tony Dugas North Park Recreation Center, 30372 Eden Church Road, in Denham Springs.

Enjoy dinner and dancing to the Big River Express, a silent auction and a raffle for four season tickets to LSU football. All proceeds go toward providing mental health and behavioral health services in Livingston and the surrounding Florida Parishes.

Young Writers Club

The Denham Springs-Walker Branch of the Livingston Parish Library’s Young Writers Club meets at 5 p.m. Thursday.

The club is open to ages 10 to 18; youths write for both publication and performance. It also offers free workshops in poetry, short stories and creative nonfiction.

Learn how to prepare fruit sushi and arrange them in decorative bento boxes at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Watson Branch of the Livingston Parish Library, 36581 Outback Road, in Denham Springs. All sushi will be fish-free.

If you’re interested in trying out a PlayStation 4, Xbox One or Wii U, come to the Main Branch of the Livingston Parish library at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Ages 12 to 18 are invited to enjoy games and refreshments.
