Denham Springs Main Street is taking applications for Redevelopment Incentive Grants from downtown commercial building owners or lessees located within the Louisiana Main Street District, which includes Range Avenue from Railroad Avenue-Centerville Street, Hummel Street and Benton Street.
Louisiana Main Street assists historic districts in their revitalization efforts, a news release said. The program provides technical assistance in economic development, and exterior and interior design.
Three types of grants are available: a $10,000 grant for redevelopment projects with a $10,000 match; a $2,500 grant with a match of $2,500; or a $500 match totaling $1,000. Applicants will compete statewide for funding with other Louisiana Main Street Districts.
Buildings must be located within the downtown main street antique district, must be used for commercial purposes and must be at least 50 years old to meet eligibility requirements. The proposed work requires approval from the Denham Springs Historic Commission and the Louisiana Main Street office, and must follow the guidelines set forth by the secretary of the interior’s standards for rehabilitation.
Applications are due by noon Thursday, June 18, to Main Street Director Donna Jennings at 941 Government St., Denham Springs. Grant recipients will be notified by September. All work must begin within 30 days of signing the agreement.
Call Jennings at (225) 667-8308 for more information.
