Holy Ghost Catholic School in Hammond, in conjunction with National Catholic Schools Week, held its annual Teacher Breakfast on Feb. 2.

Parent volunteers manned the classrooms so the teachers could enjoy breakfast prepared by the cafeteria staff. Also in attendance were administrators, teachers, clergy, dignitaries and friends and families.

Principal Donna Wallette presented the Teacher of the Year award to Pam Boeckman, known as Coach Pam. Boeckman, who has taught at Holy Ghost for 13 years, was chosen to receive the award by her peers. She is a physical education teacher, soccer coach and athletic director.

Distinguished Graduate Pam Cali Bankston shared her memories as a third-generation Holy Ghost student. Bankston said when she is asked, “What was the most important thing that you learned as a Catholic school student?” she always replies, “The power of prayer.”

Bankston, a registered nurse and author, is married to Chris Bankston and has one son, Brennan, a third-grader at Holy Ghost.
