Southeastern Louisiana University welcomed students to a completely tobacco-free campus for the first time Aug. 20, the first day of classes for the 2014 school year.

University officials said enrollment is expected to remain relatively steady, although there are no official enrollment numbers yet, Director of Public Information Rene Abadie said.

The freshman class is the first that will be able to enjoy the new Student Union addition for its entire collegiate career, he said. Construction continues on phases II and III, which are expected to be completed in 2015, and include enhancements and renovations to the previous Student Union facility.
