Area Girl Scouts will wash and pamper dogs while helping to raise money for the Society for the Prevention and Cruelty to Animals of Livingston.

The fundraiser will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26 at Faithful Companions Pet Grooming, 28903 S. Frost Road, Livingston, located directly behind the Continental Kennel Club.

Donations will be accepted for the SPCA of Livingston during the event.

Commodity pick up

The next St. Vincent de Paul commodities pick up will be from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, July 25 at 2151 Tower Drive, Denham Springs. Participants are asked to bring a picture ID to be able to pick up their commodities.

Those who are not currently signed up must bring a picture ID, proof of Livingston Parish residence and proof of income, organizers said.

Stafford Strong Baseball

The Stafford Strong Baseball Tournament, benefiting Adam Stafford, an 18-year-old who sustained a traumatic brain injury after a car accident, will be Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27, at Livingston Ball Park, 20130 McLin Road.

Bike race

The 11th annual Pelican State Credit Union’s Kids Bike Race will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26 at Abundant Life Church in Denham Springs.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. Children ages 12 and under are invited to participate in the free event. Each participant will receive a medal of completion and a chance to win a free bike.

Refreshments, space walks, face painting, fire truck tours and door prizes will be available.

Hazardous materials collection

The Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Sidney Hutchinson Park in Walker.

Residents are asked to enter the collection site from La. 1029 on to Ballpark Road at the north end of the park. The event is for Livingston Parish residents only, organizers said. No commercial waste will be accepted, and IDs will be checked. Materials accepted include acids, aerosols, batteries, flammable liquids, fluorescent bulbs, flammable solids, mercury, oxidizers, oil and latex paint, pesticides, herbicides, electronics, small fire extinguishers, used oils, tires, helium and lead.

Raffle tickets are being sold for a chance to win an iPad Mini, and a chance to help Heath Fitzhugh, who will have surgery for a double lung transplant. Heath has battled cystic fibrosis his entire life, raffle organizers said.
