LSU University College presented its annual Celebration of Excellence Spring Awards program on March 12 at The Club at Union Square in Baton Rouge.

University College awarded $74,000 through 64 undergraduate student scholarships, seven LSU faculty teaching awards, two graduate teaching assistant awards and one LSU Advisor of the Year Award.

The following Denham Springs students received scholarships during the event:

Kelsie Bankston was awarded the LSU University College Tiger Athletic Foundation Scholarship. She is a freshman majoring in civil engineering with a 4.0 GPA, the daughter of Clint and Theresa Bankston and a graduate of Live Oak High School in Watson.

Josie Bonnette was awarded the LSU University College Tiger Athletic Foundation Scholarship. A freshman majoring in mass communication with a 3.8 GPA, she is the daughter of Joseph Bonnette and Suzanne Lavigne and a graduate of Denham Springs High School.

Haskell Whittington was awarded the LSU University College Tiger Athletic Foundation Scholarship. A freshman majoring in biological sciences with a 3.812 GPA, he is the son of Haskell and Loryn Whittington and a graduate of Denham Springs High School.

John Kelton was awarded LSU University College’s Anthony J. Losavio Scholarship. A freshman majoring in mechanical engineering with a 4.0 GPA, he is the son of Sue and John Kelton and a graduate of Denham Springs High School.

The Tiger Athletic Foundation Scholarship is provided through the support of the LSU Tiger Athletic Foundation. It is awarded to full-time students enrolled in University College who have completed a minimum of 15 hours of college-level work and earned a 3.25 or higher GPA.

The Anthony J. Losavio Scholarship is generously provided through the support of the Losavio family. It is awarded to a full-time LSU freshman student enrolled in University College with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
