Livingston Parish Library will host more free tax preparation sessions for residents with an income limit of $60,000 for 2015. Appointments are required.

Bring tax documents such as W-2s, 1099s and information for deductions and credits along with a copy of last year’s tax return and a Social Security card for yourself, a spouse and dependents. You also may bring proof of a bank account for direct deposit. Volunteers will prepare most simple returns.

Woven heart ornament

Adults interested in learning basic weaving techniques can make their own woven heart ornaments from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Watson Branch of Livingston Parish Library.

Vintage Disney

Winter adventure in Narnia

Ever feel like traveling through the magical wardrobe into Narnia? Children ages 3 to 11 can do so from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Watson Branch of Livingston Parish Library, where they will complete quests for Aslan the lion and reach the final prize.

Gumbo cook-off

Watson’s sixth annual Bird and Sausage Gumbo Cook-Off is set for Saturday behind Double D Daiquiris, 32334 La. 16.

A $10 donation to enter lets you enjoy gumbo from 50 cooking teams, food from local restaurants, Kid’s Corral and music.

The event starts at 11 a.m.

Proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to the Quad Vets Transitional Housing Program. Organizers said they are dedicated to cooking gumbo until there are no homeless veterans.
