Siblings Rylie and Braiden Bates, of Ponchatoula, received Folds of Honor educational scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each from The Rite Aid Foundation’s KidCents program during an in-store event Sept. 23 at Rite Aid Pharmacy, 7570 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge.

Rylie and Braiden Bates are the children of Enjolie Bates and the late Pfc. Brian Russell Bates, who was killed in action.

Folds of Honor is a nonprofit organization based in Owasso, Oklahoma, dedicated to providing scholarships to children of fallen or disabled veterans, a news release said.

The Rite Aid Foundation has awarded nearly $21 million to nonprofit organizations since its inception in 2001.
