Jim Norred Jr. said he is running for re-election to the Livingston Parish Council District 2 seat to continue to make a difference in the fast-growing parish.

He said that although he has worked hard to make a difference on the council, the work is not finished.

“We have expanded businesses in District 2 and Livingston Parish over the last four years, as evidenced by a new Wal-Mart, shopping centers, auto parts stores and restaurants that have all opened up in the Watson area. Juban Crossing continues to grow, bringing jobs and tax revenue into the parish,” he said in a written statement. “I understand the importance to the citizens of Livingston to keep tax dollars in the parish.”

Norred, 59, and a Republican, said the parish’s growth has presented challenges and he believes the parish’s continued growth “will require preparation and innovation” and utilization of the parish master plan.

“I have worked on numerous projects during these four short years, taking on tough battles most politicians tend to side-step,” he said. “I will continue to stand in the gap for the people of our community, the people of District 2 and Livingston Parish. “
