Alyssa Bishop, Erika McCrystal and Laney Vigé, of Denham Springs Girl Scout Junior Troop 10737, have earned the Girl Scout Bronze Award, the highest award a Junior Scout can achieve.

The award requires the completion of a series of leadership challenges that are appropriate to the Scout level and prepares the girls for their final project.

For their Bronze project, the girls built a buddy bench at Lewis Vincent Elementary School in Denham Springs. The girls previously had donated a bench to Gray’s Creek Elementary in Denham Springs.

A buddy bench is where a student can sit if he or she is bored or lonely.

Other students can go to the bench and ask the seated student if they would like to play or talk.

The project adviser was Alana Bishop.
