Rannah Gray, author of “Familiar Evil,” will speak to the Rotary Club of Livingston Parish at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Big Mike’s Sports Bar and Grill in Denham Springs.

“Familiar Evil” tells the story of Scott Rogers, who was found dead of a single bullet to his head in August 2015 in his St. Gabriel home. Investigators have said he was shot by Mathew Hodgkinson, 36, with whom Rogers had an alleged sexual relationship dating back to Hodgkinson’s early teens. Hodgkinson, who was found shot near Rogers, remained on life support at a Baton Rouge hospital until being pronounced dead on Sept. 5.

The case gained national attention after allegations surfaced about Rogers sexually abusing children years earlier.
