Members of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office Young Marine Program graduated Friday.
The TPSO’s Young Marine Program, led by Cpl. Nick Vinterella, is comprised of youth from the ages of 8 through 18.
The Young Marine Program focuses on leadership skills, living a drug free and healthy lifestyle, physical fitness, community service, self respect and respect for others, and team building skills, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
“This is always an exciting time for our Young Marines,” Sheriff Daniel Edwards said. “I encourage all of our Young Marines to take what they have learned in training and be positive examples for other youth at school, home and in the community.”
Another recruit class will begin in June and applications are being accepted.
To enroll, contact Vinterella or Detective Dennis Brazil at (985) 902-2011.
