Walker High School will host a Veterans Day celebration Saturday, which will kick off at 10 a.m. in the Glenn Ellis Gym.

All veterans are invited to attend the ceremony, and several special guests are planned for the program, including U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy.

During the ceremony, Walker High students will sing, and the Walker High band will perform.

Before the ceremony kicks off, there will be a car show at 9 a.m. where static displays of Vietnam-era vehicles and other items will be available for the public to view.

Volunteers will serve lunch to all the veterans at 11 a.m. in the school’s cafeteria.

The meal is free for veterans and their spouses, and food trucks will be available to the public to purchase food.

At 1 p.m., the Veterans Day Parade will roll through Walker to cap off the day’s festivities.

Event organizer and Walker High School Principal Jason St. Pierre, who served four years in the Navy, said the ceremony is important to himself and the school.

“We want to honor those who have paid the ultimate price,” he said.

Event attendees can park in the school’s parking lot.
