SLU symphony brings Disney to Hammond _lowres

Photo provided by Tonya Lowentritt -- The award-winning Wind Symphony of Southeastern Louisiana University performs at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. The symphony will present ‘The Magical Music of Walt Disney’ on Nov. 14.

The award-winning Southeastern Louisiana University Wind Symphony will present a concert, “The Magical Music of Walt Disney,” at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Pottle Music Building Auditorium on Friendship Circle in Hammond.

Tickets are $3 and will be available at the auditorium box office starting at 1 p.m.

The symphony is led by Southeastern Director of Bands Glen Hemberger. Other conductors include three master of music conducting associates. Featured vocalists include Tara Hymel, of Denham Springs.

Featured music includes selections from the Disneyland, Disney World and Epcot theme parks, as well as music from well-known movies such as “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Tangled,” Aladdin,” “The Lion King,” “Tarzan,” “The Little Mermaid” and “Frozen.”

Several Disney characters will be on hand to greet the audience before and after the concert.
