Bailey Tuminello, a senior at Archbishop Hannan High School in Covington and native of Amite, has signed her national letter of intent to play softball at Nicholls State University for coach Angel Santiago, according to a news release from Hannan High School.

Bailey is a three-year letterman in softball at Hannan, where she helped the team to the state playoffs in 2013 and 2014. The Lady Hawks finished as state runners-up in 2013. As a sophomore, Tuminello had a batting average of .414, was named to the New Orleans All-Metro Team, the Archdiocese of New Orleans Elite Softball Team and All-District Team and hit the game-winning solo home run in the ninth inning of the state quarterfinal game, the release said. As a junior, Tuminello had a batting average of .558 with 12 home runs and 53 RBIs. She was named to the New Orleans All-Metro Team, the Archdiocese of New Orleans Elite Softball Team, first team All-District and District MVP, first team Sportswriters All-State and the Louisiana Softball Coaches Association All-State, the release said.

Tuminello has played most of her travel ball seasons with the Louisiana High Voltage coached by Becky Lambert, who is also her high school coach, and the Louisiana Blazers coached by Todd Whittington, the release said.

Bailey, the daughter of Brandy and Banyon Tuminello, of Amite, is looking forward to her senior year with the Hannan Lady Hawks and another run toward the state title, the release said. She is also ready for her next step into Division I softball with the Lady Colonels.

“It’s a lifelong dream that is coming true,” Bailey said in a recent interview. “I am so thankful to all of my coaches and especially coach Santiago for having faith in me and my skills as a player.”
