Livingston Parish 4-H member Westin Cobb recently was recognized for taking first place in the youth grazing management essay contest put on by the Louisiana Forage and Grasslands Council.

The contest was sponsored by Teddy Gentry, of the band Alabama.

Cobb won $200 for himself and $450 for Livingston Parish 4-H with his essay, “Grass, Grazing, and Getting Results: My Experience in the 4-H Beef Grazing Project.”

The essay placed third at the national contest held by the American Forage and Grasslands Council, which had its national convention in Baton Rouge. Cobb received his award from Gentry at a luncheon on Jan. 11.
