The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana University and the Amite Chamber of Commerce and Tangipahoa Economic Development will host a seminar Thursday on effective techniques for using Facebook in business.

The free event will be from 9 a.m. to noon at the Tangipahoa Parish Library, 204 N.E. Central Avenue, Amite.

“The presentation is a guide for small businesses or nonprofits that have been using Facebook for social media marketing,” said Sandy Summers, assistant director of the Small Business Development Center, “but need some tips to take them to an intermediate level.”

Summers said core concepts will include a closer look at Facebook; how to tell if it is right for business; what kind of content to create and post; etiquette; how to tell if content is working; suggestions on what to do next; and why social media and email marketing must be used together.

Kim Walker, owner of 5 Stones Media, will teach the class, Summers said.

“Kim is also a regional representative for Constant Contact and travels throughout the state to educate businesses on ways to reach and keep their customer base through effective and affordable marketing technologies.”

The event is free, however, pre-registration is preferred. For information, contact the LSBDC Southeastern at (985) 549-3831 or lsbdc.slu@lsbdc.org. Online registration is available at www.lsbdc.org.
