Blakely Lowrance, Kodey Brown and Griffin Holland took home new bikes July 25 at Pelican State Credit Union’s 12th annual Free Kids Bike Race at Abundant Life Church in Denham Springs.

The children were among 104 kids participating in three races divided by age group: 10-12, 6-9 and 5 and younger. After each race, a child in each age group was drawn to win a new bicycle from Capitol Cyclery.

All race participants received medals of completion, T-shirts and goody bags. Healthy refreshments, music, games, fire truck tours, a bounce house and face painting were provided, as well as door prizes for parents.

“Pelican is dedicated to giving back to the Denham Springs community in any way that we can,” Pelican State CEO Jeffrey K. Conrad said. “We believe that both financial and physical health are important and love providing an outlet for the community to come together year after year before school starts.”
