Livingston Parish Superintendent John Watson and his staff visited campuses Friday as students returned after the summer break.

“Knock on wood — everything’s going fine, so far,” he said during an afternoon break.

He specifically called out the transportation department, saying school bus pickup may have been the smoothest of any first day in memory.

Returning students at several campuses got to use newly constructed facilities, including recently completed classroom expansions at South Fork Elementary and a new field house at Albany High.
