Bead wreath

The Livingston Branch Library will host patrons 18 and older to create a Mardi Gras bead wreath at 10 a.m. Thursday. The library will provide supplies and beads, but participants may bring medallions, bows or items they would like to add to their wreaths. Young Writers Club

The Denham Springs-Walker Library’s Young Writers Club meets at 5 p.m. Thursday and Feb. 18. The program is open to anyone from the ages of 10 and 17, and the goal of the club is to write for both publication and performance, organizers said. Young writers are encouraged to explore their writing interests and develop their voice and style through exciting collaborative activities, they said. Valentine’s dance

The Livingston Council on Aging will host a Valentine’s Dance for persons 25 and over from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday at the Denham Springs Meal Site, 949 Government Dr., Denham Springs, next to City Hall. New mothers can visit the Denham Springs-Walker Library’s parenting series for information about topics including breast feeding, nutrition, car seat fitting and child safety. Mardi Gras ball

The third annual Krewe of Tickfaw Mardi Gras Ball will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Tin Lizzy’s, 29592 La. 22, Springfield. Entertainment will be provided by The Rock Show Featuring Marc & Joey.

Boat parade

The 21st annual Krewe of Diversion Mardi Gras Boat Parade will start at noon Saturday. Registration will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Manny’s. The cost is $35 per boat. Checks can be made payable to LFACC. All proceeds benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Food and St. Jude items will be sold at Manny’s starting at noon the day of the parade. A live auction will start at 5:30 p.m. or after all participating parade boats are back at Manny’s.

Denham Mardi Gras parade

The Krewe of Denham Springs 2015 Mardi Gras parade will start at 3 p.m. Saturday. The theme is “Urban Cowboy,” and will feature riding groups on horseback. The parade begins at Denham Springs High School and Yellow Jacket Boulevard, and will then travel south on Range through the Antique District, turn west on Florida, and end at the intersection at Veteran’s Boulevard. Walker Mardi Gras parade

The city of Walker is now accepting entry forms for the Walker Mardi Gras Parade which will start at 6 p.m. Saturday at Walker High School, 12646 Burgess Ave.

It will travel down Burgess Avenue to La. 447, down Florida Boulevard to Palmetto, and back to the high school. Those interested can submit an entry form to the city of Walker by Thursday.

There is no entry fee. Entry forms are available at www.walker.la.us.
