Those who smoke and have diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and/or leg pain or discomfort when they walk, could be at risk for Peripheral Artery Disease. If left untreated, PAD can lead to gangrene, heart attack and stroke, a news release from North Oaks said.
Cardiologist Jorge Castellanos, of North Oaks Physician Group, will lead a free talk on PAD’s symptoms, diagnosis and treatment from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 25 in the E. Brent Dufreche Conference Center, 15837 Paul Vega MD Drive, in Hammond in observance of American Heart Month.
Those interested in attending can reserve a seat by calling North Oaks Corporate Communications at (985) 230-6647.
Castellanos will explain PAD risk factors, warning signs and symptoms, diagnosis and treatment, the release said.
American Heart Month is observed each February to highlight the prevention and treatment of heart disease.
