The Annie Awards luncheon was held Sept. 25 in Hammond to honor Chris Bentley, Terri Chaucer, Judy Couvillion, Lila Hogan, Cindy Shelton and Katie Wainwright for service to the community.

Dr. Patsy Causey, Jamene Dahmer and Patti Giannobile also were honored for their roles in the inception of the Annie Awards in 1998.

More than 180 guests attended the luncheon, hosted by the Greater Hammond Chamber of Commerce and Tangi Lifestyles Magazine, at the Southeastern Student Union Grand Ballroom.

Guest speaker Maura Donahue talked about becoming the first female chairman of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce board of directors, how she almost left the post because of Hurricane Katrina and how she decided to stay because of the message her quitting would send to other women, a news release said.

“It’s inspiring for us to see women we have admired while growing up be recognized for their accomplishments,” chamber President and CEO Melissa Bordelon said.

Table sponsors included BNI Trade Wins Hammond Chapter, Don Chaucer’s Pharmacy, First Guaranty Bank, Hampton Inn, PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans, state Rep. Chris Broadwater, Tangipahoa Professional Women’s Organization and Whitney Bank.
