District 1 Councilman Chance Parent announced he will seek another term on the Livingston Parish Council.

“So many kind people were so supportive,” he said. “It humbled me that this many people would ask me to run again. We hired and trained enough people in my business since then, which unlocked huge blocks of my time. I’m looking forward to the run.”

Parent, 31, a Republican, said that as chairman of the finance committee for three years, he developed a good working relationship with the parish President’s Office, other parish government departments and with the sheriff during the jail budget process.

“We have accomplished so much in the first four years of my term, such as closing the $2 million shortage to build the courthouse, to correcting the $500,000-per-year loss in the Parish Utility Fund and refinanced parish debt and saved the taxpayers well over $1 million in interest payments over the life of the bond, to name a few,” he said.

Parent said he spearheaded efforts to get the Parish Council meetings televised so “people can actually see the government at work.”

“The council members are a great bunch and I enjoy working with all of them. I look forward to another four years as the District 1 councilman and I ask everyone to please vote for me on Oct. 24,” he said.
