Jeff Ard announced his candidacy for the Livingston Parish Council District 1 seat.
The district includes the town of Livingston, areas to the north of the town and the North Corbin area.
“The citizens of District 1 need a conservative council member that will work with the other council members and the parish president to move District 1 forward along with the rest of the parish,” Ard said.
Ard, 45, has worked as an electrical supervisor for Vector Electric for 21 years.
He said his experience in budgeting and project management has prepared him for the Parish Council..
“As a successful youth baseball coach, I know what it takes to pull together a group of individuals to reach a common goal,” he said. “I would like to use this skill set to help lead Livingston Parish in our goal of being the greatest parish in the state of Louisiana.”
Ard is a graduate of Walker High School. He has been married to Tina Ard for 20 years, and they have two children, Jenna and Jacob Ard. They attend Revival Temple Church in Walker.
Ard, a Republican, serves on the Republican Parish Executive Committee. He has served on the town of Livingston Baseball Recreation Board and coached youth baseball for 11 years. He also is the announcer for Walker High baseball games.
“I have been a lifelong resident of Livingston Parish,” he said. “I’ve raised my family here and love this parish. I just want to have an opportunity to give something back.”
