Livingston Parish 4-H members competed in several events at the state livestock show in February.

The Livingston Parish Poultry Quiz Bowl team placed first at the state contest at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, said Livingston Parish Assistant Extension Agent Jessie Hoover.

Members won a trip to Louisville, Kentucky, where they will compete at the national quiz bowl competition.

Team members include Luke Seguin, Haley Williams, Colton Smith and Matt Seguin.

Select Livingston Parish 4-H and FFA members competed in the premier exhibitor contests during the LSU State Livestock Show in Gonzales.

The contests test students’ knowledge of the species they show. They compete in a skill-a-thon, take a written test, take part in an interview and are scored based on their showmanship and judging skills.

Matt Seguin placed third in poultry and fourth in dairy.

Jesse Purvis placed second in swine and was awarded the FFA Governor’s Award for his livestock records.

Megan Mincey placed third in dairy, and Madelyne Easley was second in goats.
