Livingston Parish residents and residents of the Central and Baton Rouge areas are invited to a Common Core Town Hall Meeting to discuss its impact on the educational system at 6 p.m. Thursday at Greenwell Baptist Church, 19421 Greenwell Springs Road.
Those attending will hear from a panel of people who have done extensive research on Common Core and will answer questions, a news release from Beth Meyers said.

The Denham Springs Police Department, 447 Lamm St., will hold a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday. All donors will receive a free T-shirt. A photo ID is required.
French Settlement’s third annual La. 16 Bridge-to-Bridge Community Yard Sale will be Oct. 18. Also participating in this year’s event will be the St. Joseph Youth Group Fundraiser. Food will be available for purchase from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the church grounds.

Children are invited to bring their favorite teddy bear to the Watson Library’s demonstration garden for a Teddy Bear Picnic.
