The Leading Ladies Club at Hammond Westside Montessori had its second meeting on Oct. 21.
Special guests were students from Southeastern Louisiana University, who spoke about the various campus organizations to which they belong, including Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, Theta Phi Alpha sorority, resident assistants from University Housing, Gamma Beta Phi, Campus Activities Board and Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.
The guests also spoke about the importance of getting an education, maintaining high GPAs and representing their school and organizations with dignity and respect while girls and guests participated in a fingernail painting party, a news release said.
Leading Ladies is a new club offered this year for girls in third through sixth grades. Teachers nominated two females from their class who represent such qualities as working well in group settings, maintaining a positive attitude, organizational skills, responsibility and self-motivation.
