Holy Ghost Catholic School in Hammond is celebrating National Fire Prevention Month with various activities throughout October.

Firefighters gave presentations to students at the school on Oct. 2, including talks about fire safety, a contest to see who could put the fire gear on the quickest, a race in fire gear and a chance to drag 200-plus-pound “Rescue Randy” across the gym floor.

Firemen were recognized throughout the day with gifts of cards from students, as well as food donated by University Donuts, Firehouse Subs and Hammond’s Piggly Wiggly.
